- 8 am1Dolomiti Superski day pass, San CassianoSan Cassiano
This day needs the full Dolomiti Superski pass, not the Alta Badia valley pass — the Lagazuoi cable car sits on the Cortina side of Passo Falzarego. Also draw cash now: the ski taxi and the horse tow are both cash-only and there is no machine at Passo Falzarego.

Minibuses leave when full from outside the Hotel Armentarola. Be on one of the first two of the day: by 10:30 the queue for the taxi and then again for the cable car can eat an hour, which is exactly what ruins this run.

One small cabin, one route down — this is the bottleneck of the whole day and the reason the early start matters more here than anywhere else in the Dolomites.

Twenty minutes, standing, for the panorama over the Marmolada and Tofane and the mouths of the WWI tunnels cut into the mountain under your feet. Do not sit down for a full breakfast — the run below is the point and it gets busy behind you.
- 10:15 am5The Armentarola piste through the Fanis wallsSan Cassiano
Graded red but it is a rolling cruise with flat sections, not a steep run — the actual skill is carrying speed across the flats so you do not end up skating. Frozen waterfalls on the left about a third of the way down; stop for them, everyone does. Usually opens only after Christmas.
- 12:15 pm6Lunch at Rifugio ScotoniSan Cassiano
The grill is what to order — lamb chops, ribs, anything off the coals — and everything else on the menu is a distraction. It is on the run, so there is no such thing as arriving separately: reserve, then time the descent to land at your booking rather than an hour before it.
- 2 pm7The horse tow back along the valley floorSan Cassiano
The last two kilometres are dead flat, so you grab a rope and a horse pulls you out. Roughly four euros, cash in hand, coins and notes only — no card. It does not run in heavy snow or if the route is shut, in which case it is a long skate: keep some energy.
8 min by train or taxi · 1.8 km - 3 pm8Piz Sorega for a couple of last runs into San CassianoSan Cassiano
Only if the group still has legs — the Hidden Valley is a complete day on its own and there is no shame in finishing at two.
